Zoom seesaw lever supports 2x electronic zoomThe NEX-VG900 features a zoom seesaw lever that is easily accessible while holding the camcorder in the normal way. With optional lenses that feature built-in zoom drive* the lever controls optical zoom, and with non-zoom lenses it controls electronic zoom (up to 2x, speed variable in 32 steps). This allows slow, smooth zooming that is almost impossible to achieve when zooming manually, for added creative control and pro-quality imagery.

Operation and design optimised for video shootingThe NEX-VG900 grip is designed to fall easily into the palm of the hand when the camera is held in shooting position. The grip strap is large for comfort, and has been carefully designed to offer the greatest possible stability. Low-angle shots can be handled comfortably by gripping the NEX-VG900 from above and rotating the LCD monitor to a position at which it can be easily viewed. The second start/stop and focus magnification buttons are easily accessible from this position as well. When shooting in bright outdoor conditions simply moving your eye to the eye sensor equipped viewfinder automatically switches from monitor to viewfinder for easier viewing. A control dial on the side of the unit enables adjustment of manual settings while the LCD monitor is in the closed position.

Comprehensive manual controlsAperture priority, shutter speed priority, or manual exposure control can be easily controlled via direct keys that have been carefully designed and positioned for optimum accessibility. Zebra pattern display is provided for extra adjustment accuracy. In situations where AF doesn’t lock onto the desired subject, the user can switch to manual mode and accurately make the necessary focus adjustment while using the peaking function and one-touch focus magnification button provided on the top of the grip.

Large, high-resolution touch-panel monitorThe LCD monitor is a large “Xtra Fine” 3.0 type with 920,000 dot resolution, wide 16:9 aspect ratio, and LED backlighting. Fine subject details and tonal gradations are faithfully reproduced, making it easy to focus with accuracy while viewing the LCD monitor. The NEX-VG900 monitor additionally functions as a touch-panel for efficient, intuitive operation.
